After Ferrante

Despite the traditional difficulties of translated literature in the English-speaking world, contemporary Italian literature is having a blast in the UK: over sixty books were translated within the past year, and twenty publishing houses were involved. The worldwide success of Elena Ferrante’s books has paved the way, but all sorts of different Italian books and novels are now being translated. Literary scout Rebecca Servadio leads a panel discussion with prominent publishers and editors on the new “Italian wave” in the UK publishing market.

This event will be in English. As a special opening event, it will be held at the Italian Cultural Institute in Belgrave. The rest of the Festival will take place at the Coronet Theatre, starting from the early afternoon.
